WebQuesting at the Library of Congress Level II Online Course Thursdays, July 11 through August 15 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm each day Participants will first learn what WebQuesting is and why this teaching tool is an exciting way to incorporate technology-based learning into the curriculum. Participants will then set about creating a WebQuest to enhance their own classroom curriculum using Library of Congress online Exhibitions. View WebQuests created by previous participants Participants of this course are required to have completed TPS Level I programming before taking part in TPS Level II. If you have previously completed a Level I TPS course at the Library of Congress or with a TPS partner, please email a copy of your completion certificate/letter to Nancy Wrick. If you have not yet completed TPS Level I, please complete the six online self-directed modules available on the Library of Congress web site. Each online module takes approximately 1 hour to complete. You will have an option to print a Certificate of Completion at the end of each module. National History Day Resources at the Library of Congress Level II Online Course Thursdays, October 3 through November 7 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm each day The National History Day Theme for 2014, “Rights and Responsibilities in History” will be the focus as participants investigate Library of Congress digitized collections of primary sources. The class will be taught online for six weeks. Each week will require two hours of individual reading and project development plus two hours of live real-time audio chat with colleagues and a facilitator. This workshop is designed for teachers and librarians, grades 6-12. Participants will earn 18 Pennsylvania Act 48 activity hours. Educators outside of Pennsylvania will receive a certificate of completion and letter that may be submitted to local institutions for approval of continuing education hours. There is no cost for participation, but space is limited. Graduates of TPS Level 1 are welcome to apply. Others are asked to complete the six online modules and submit Certificates of Completion before attending and will earn six additional activity hours (http://www.loc.gov/teachers/professionaldevelopment/selfdirected/), for a total of 24.
